THE Annual Cycling Challenge
In 2011, the TOUR Transalp will go into its ninth year. This seven-stage road race is as professional as a race outside the pro circuit can be. The start will be in Sonthofen (southwest of Munich/ Germany), from where it leads the international field of riders over the toughest mountain passes in the Alps to the shores of Lake Garda in northern Italy. With a total distance of approximately 850 kilometers and 21,000 meters of climbing, the race follows the same mountain roads known from pro races like the Giro d'Italia or the Tour of Germany. The event www.tour-transalp.de is for teams of two (riders) in five categories: Men, Women, Masters (any age of both riders combined totals 80 years), Grand Masters (combined age totals 100 years) and Mixed.
Over the years, the race has become so popular that the 550 team spots usually fill within minutes of registration opening. Thanks to the excellent reputation of our Canadian teams who have competed in the past, and the good relations that we are enjoying with the German organizers, twelve of those team entries have been reserved for us in 2011.
As a four-time finisher, Joerg, together with his partner Tobias, will return in 2011 to share the fun, their experience and valuable connections by supporting twelve Canadian teams prior to and during this great event. Tobias and Joerg's service will take care of all the logistics surrounding the event to ensure that you as a competitor can focus entirely on the race and the important recovery between the stages.
